The Customer

Edition 1 is a Dutch company selling internet applications. The company has completed many projects, mainly for customers from the Netherlands. It specializes in Plone, and therefore required the best programmers working in this language. After receiving an order, Edition 1 receives technical assistance from STX Next Python Experts. It also provides training in using CMS created with Plone.

The Need

Edition 1 develops software in Plone and Python, and needs people with very a good knowledge of these technologies. In the Netherlands, there are not many programmers specializing in the technologies of interest. Due to working on a very large number of Plone-based projects, the help of specialists was necessary. This demand for skilled employees was the basis for starting the cooperation with STX Next Python Experts.

The Solution

The solution is the Python on Demand service that guarantees the availability of two programmers, whenever such a need arises. Every 6 month, on average, Edition 1 employees visit Poland, and also the STX Next Python Experts programmers visit the Netherlands. It is possible due to a very good air and rail connection from Poznań, where the office of our company is located.

The Results

The long-lasting cooperation since 2005 is both a result and testimony of high quality services. Tens of projects were completed together, starting from programming in Plone 2.1, and then Plone 2.5, Plone 3.x as well as Plone 4.x. Thanks to the cooperation with Poland, Edition 1 became independent of problems related to the availability of programmers in Western Europe. Labour costs were also reduced significantly by turning fixed costs into variable costs. During these several years, we have jointly completed tens of projects, and some of them are described in our portfolio.
